Texas Public Education Grant Program 2021 – Apply Now

The Texas Public Education Grant (TPEG) is an institutional grant made available through state funding. TPEG is awarded to students who demonstrate financial need. Priority is given to students who meet the priority deadline (March 15th) and enroll full-time.

Grants may be awarded to student who apply late or enroll less than full-time based on funding. The University receives a certain amount of funds from the state each year and cannot offer awards once all funds have been exhausted. This grant is available to both Undergraduate and Graduate students that are Texas Residents and Non-Residents. Must Apply by submitting a FAFSA or TASFA.

General Qualifications;

To qualify for financial assistance, a student must be admitted into a degree-granting course of study, be meeting TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP), and must not be in default or delinquent on any student loan with the University, State or Federal government.

The student must not owe a balance for Federal Title IV Funds returned due to complete withdrawal from TAMIU or any other state or private institution (see Return of Funds Due to Complete Withdrawal). Students must be enrolled at least six (6) hours to be eligible for any loan under the Federal Direct Loan Program.

Eligiblity Requirements;

To be eligible for federal and state student aid, an applicant must:

  • Be a U. S. citizen or reside in the U.S. for other than a temporary purpose.
  • Demonstrate a documented need for need-based financial assistance.
  • Be in good academic standing and maintain a satisfactory level of academic progress toward a degree.
  • Enroll for the course load required by the requested aid program.
  • Be meeting the satisfactory academic progress policy under the Office of Financial aid; and
  • Not be in default on any educational loan, or owe a refund or repayment on any educational grant.
